The needle case has been accurately carved to look like a real Pea Pod, with the bumps of the peas in a pod and even a short stork.

It has been hand carved from a natural material that is in excellent undamaged condition, with just some light age staining to the finish.

Here on offer is a fine example of a 2nd Boer War, St. Helena, prisoner of war made wooden dip pen, dated 1901.

The bulbus wooden shaft of this pen has a hollow section in the centre and a spiral grove cut into the outer surface. Also on surface are some geometric style patterns and the words:

The white metal badge has a circlet inscribed ARGYLL AND SUTHERLAND. Within the circlet, voided, the cypher "L" of the late Princess Louise, interlaced and reversed.
