WW2 German Pastel Painted Portrait of a German Army Officer Dated September 1942 Russia - K. Knorr
Here on offer is an impressive WW2 German Pastel Painted Portrait of a young German Army Officer dated September 1942 Russia - K. Knorr.
The German Army Officer is portrayed in his uniform, minus his cap, but showing the German army eagle above his right breast pocket.
In the bottom right hand corner is written:
K Knorr RUSSL. 9, 42
Therefore I have to assume that the artist was K Knorr or it was possibly the Officers name? It warrants further researching.
The RUSSL would refer to Russia so I assume he was part of the German Russian offensive that started in 1941.
Then 9.42, refers to September 1942.
The painting appears to be in excellent condition and is possibly in its original glass fronted lacquered wooden frame.
There is just one slight chip to the lacquer finish at the bottom left hand corner.
The frame measures 12.6” (32cm) by 10” (25.5cm).
It weighs 650g.
