I believe this brooch started life as an RFC Cap Badge, but the rear fixing lugs have been removed and a “C” clasp and long pin professionally fitted in their place, so it could act as a brooch.

Here on offer is a rare early example of an original and pre WW2 Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve “RAFVR”, numbered silver lapel badge.
