WW2 Copper Trench Art Pocket Petrol Lighter with WW1 & WW2 Coins
Here on offer is a great example of an early WW2 period copper trench art pocket petrol lighter, with WW1 and WW2 coins.
The lighter’s outer frame is made from two sections of copper pipe.
Fitted to one end is an English 1939 dated halfpenny showing the sailing ship image and at the other end is a George V, WW1 period, halfpenny that displays the profile of George V.
The lighter inside is made from a solid piece of aluminium and still retains the thumb wheel with flint and the wick.
I assume the aluminium lighter pulls out of the copper base to access the flint/spring and to refuel it, but it seems to be seized up in its position and I don’t want to force it.
No fuel (petrol) is retained in the lighter, to meet with shipping regulations.
The lighter is in excellent condition and will make an impressive and unique addition to any lighter collection.
It measures 2” (5cm) long and 1.1” (2.7cm) diameter.
It weighs 75.6g.
