This is the first example I have seen that was actually made in a POW camp in England, normally they where made POW’s in North Africa.

These cases were traded for food and cigarettes by the POW’s, with the guards and locals.

This interesting letter opener has been made from a fine piece of animal bone that has been fitted with a brass WW2 US Army Quartermasters badge at the top.

The bone now has a really smooth finish and shows some dark age staining which gives it a pleasant marbled effect.read more
