Fine Victorian Mahogany and Brass Quill Pen Maker and Trimmer c1880

Here on offer is a fine Victorian Mahogany and brass quill pen maker and trimmer, circa 1880.

There is no maker on this example, but a lot were made by Joseph Rodgers in Sheffield, with a very similar stye.

The main body id made from Mahogany wood and at one end it has a folding steel knife blade/trimmer. Then at the other end is the brass and steel cutter hinged guillotine, which still works perfectly. I have actually used it on a seagull feather, to cut a “V”, as can be seen in my photos.

It is in excellent working condition, with just some dark staining to the blade and a small hairline split near the top blade swivel pin. A true genuine early example of this type of writing tool.

It measures 3.4” (9.3cm) long and weighs 30g.
