Near Mint WW2 German K98 Short Dress Bayonet by PUMA with Scabbard and Black Leather Frog

Here on offer is a near mint WW2 German K98 short dress bayonet by PUMA with scabbard and black leather frog.

The 7.9” single-edged nickel plated blade has a flat spine above a deep single fuller on both sides. The blade is in near mint condition, with just a tiny area of greying near the PUMA logo, that would probably polish bright.

The ricasso bears the Puma head logo for the famous knife maker, PUMA of Solingen and the leather scabbard buffer pad is still in place.

The crossguard with upturned quillion and the bird-beck pommel retain their plating, with just a tiny touch/rub mark on the back of the crossguard. The press-stud locking mechanism is in full working order and the rifle slot is empty of any red felt.

The chequered black Bakelite grip scales are in mint condition and are held firmly in place by two domed plated rivets.

The metal scabbard retains its gloss black paint finish with no dents, but now shows signs of “spidering” under the paint finish. It sits nicely in the original black leather frog that is in mint condition.

This is just a fine and genuine example of WW2 period dress bayonet and would make a great addition to any collection.

The blade measures 7.9” (20cm) and the whole bayonet is 12.7” (32.2cm) long.

With the scabbard and frog, it weighs 435g.
