Rare WW2 “Trench Art” Plexiglass Model of a Spitfire

Here on offer is a model of a WW2 period RAF Spitfire fighter aircraft, made from scrap or broken windshields and canopies of downed or repaired WW2 aircraft.

This is a rare piece of WW2 trench art, that was skilfully crafted by service personnel or factory workers from salvaged aircraft canopy plexiglass.

It has been very well made and is an almost perfect scale model of a spitfire, displaying the lovely smooth lines.

It is in excellent condition with no damage and it still retains the clear and glowing refractive properties of old aircraft plastic. You can just see where the clear acrylic glue was used to join the wings to the fuselage.

It measures 4.2” (10.6cm) wing tip to wing tip and the fuselage is 3.25” (8.2cm) long.

It weighs 13g.
