Vintage Hunting “WOODCRAFT” Knife by Wade & Butcher with 4” Blade and Custom made Leather Pocket Sheath

Here on offer is vintage hunting knife Wade & Butcher produced, heavily inspired by the classic Marbles "Woodcraft" design that became highly popular in the early-to-mid 20th century.

Wade & Butcher (famous for their razors) made these rugged carbon-steel knives primarily for the American outdoor and Boy Scout markets.

These were designed as sturdy all-purpose camping, hunting, and wood-processing knives.

The clip-point blade is made from a high-carbon steel and the front of the blade is stamped with “WOODCRAFT” and the ricasso is stamped with the maker’s name:

BUTCHER
SHEFFIELD
ENGLAND

Then on the other side it has the maker’s mark, being the Maltase cross, long arrow and letter “B” in a circle.

The blade shows some signs of light pitting and has clearly been sharpened during its life. It retains a great cutting edge and has some scratches to the blade surface.

The grip is made from a solid section of wood, possibly walnut, that is in excellent condition.

It has a domed polished aluminium pommel, that has a flush fitting circular slotted brass nut in the top, that secures the tang.

The knife now comes with a custom made hand stitched leather pocket sheath, with the image of a stag’s head embossed on the front.

This is a great example of a rare vintage English “WOODCRAFT” knife. that is so tactile to hold.

The blade measures 4” (10.2cm) and the knife itself 7.25” (18.5cm) long.

With the sheath it weighs 133g.
