Fantasy U.S. WW1 Knuckle Guard 1918 Trench Knife with 12.4” Blade and Black Painted Steel Scabbard

Here on offer is a FANTASY U.S. WW1 knuckle guard 1918 trench knife with 12.4” blade and black painted steel scabbard.

I am sure this knife is just a FANTASY piece based on the famous U.S. Model 1918 Mark I knuckle knife, albeit one sold back in February at Martel Maides auctions for a crazy £300!

The genuine U.S. Model 1918 Mark I Trench Knife was the second major Knuckle Knife to be officially adopted and issued to the US military. It was developed for use in the horrific trench warfare that typified the stalemate on the Western Front during the latter part of World War One and saw use not only there, but during World War Two as well.
The U.S. M-1918 Mark I Trench Knife is easily identifiable due to its large brass knuckle style guard and grip. The brass grips were marked U.S. 1918 and with the makers name or initials.

This knife has the large cast brass knuckle style guard and grip, that is deeply stamped on both sides with:

U.S. 1918

It has a long 12.4” double edged, quite crude steel blade, with a partial central groove on both sides.

On one side of the ricasso it is stamped again with:

U.S.
1918

It also retains its original brown scabbard “buffer” washer.

It has a black painted steel scabbard which is in great condition and is actually well made.

Brass D guard knuckle knives always make a great centrepiece to any knife display and certainly draw attention due to their size and fierce appearance.

The knife measures 17” (43.2cm) long and the blade measures 12.4” (31.5cm) long and 0.9” (2.2cm) wide at the ricasso.

With the scabbard it weighs 595g.
