Antique Napoleon Bonaparte Commemorative Silver Plated Brooch c1815
Here on offer is an antique Napoleon Bonaparte commemorative silver plated brooch, circa 1815.
A lot of this style of patriotic/commemorative brooch was made after the battle of Waterloo, so patriots could show their allegiance to Nepoleon.
It depicts the finely detailed profile bust of Nepoleon in military uniform along with the "Crown over N" which was the imperial cipher used by Napoleon Bonaparte during the First French Empire.
There is also a tiny makers mark that looks like “EV” in a raised square, that I can’t identify.
This circular image /medal sits inside a brass ring that is surrounded by a pierced floral patterned wreath. There may be a flower bud missing at the top, but I can’t be sure?
On the reverse it retains the original fixing pin “C” clasp.
It now shows signs of plating loss to the finish but retains all the fine detailing on the image.
It measures about 1.2” (3cm) diameter to the edges of the floral wreath and weighs 3.3g.
