Fine Sterling Silver Single-Bladed Penknife with Silver Chain and Clasp by Ballou & Co. USA

Here on offer is a fine sterling silver single-bladed penknife with silver chain and clasp by Ballou & Co. USA.

Ballou & Co was an American company founded sometime in the 1800s by Barton Allen Ballou (B.A.B.) in Rhode Island and they were bought up by W.R Cobb in 2009.

The penknife has two sterling silver grip slabs. On has an engine turned triangular pattern and a small blank cartouche. The other slab has just a polished plain finish.

The 1” single edged polished steel blade is in mint condition and is stamped on the ricasso with:

STAINLESS
JAPAN

It opens and closes perfectly and has a swivel loop at one end that is stamped on one side with:

B.A.B.

and on the other:

STERLING

There is a 4” long (end to end) silver chain with a secure locking catch that is also marked STERLING B.A.B.

The knife and chain are in mint unused condition and makes an ideal knife to have as a “keyring”.

The blade measures 1.” (2.5cm) and the whole knife when open measures 2.5” (6.5cm) excluding the loop.

It weighs 12g.
