WW1 German Trench Art Gilt Copper Driving Band Bangle Engraved with Initials F K and Stamped D.R.G.M and maker KIAG c1914

Here on offer is an impressive WW1 German Trench Art gilt copper driving band bangle. It is engraved with initials F K and stamped D.R.G.M and has a maker mark of KIAG, circa 1914.

This bangle has been made from a copper driving band salvaged from a WW1 German artillery shell.

A gilt finish has been applied and it retains the original grooved driving band pattern to the outer surface. Two of the raised sections have been engraved with what I assume where the original owner’s initials, “F K”. These can easily be removed and replaced by a jeweller, if required.

The bangle is hinged at one side, with the opposite side fitted with a fully working, two pronged release catch.

On the back of the catch it has a maker’s stamp, being the letters KIAG set inside a diamond, but I can’t identify who the maker is?

Then stamped on the inside of the catch tongue, is the D.R.G.M (Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster) mark for the German Imperial Patent Office that was first introduced and used in 1891.

The bracelet is in excellent undamaged condition and is a very wearable piece.

The inside measurements are 2.6” (6.5cm) by 2.2” (5.6cm) and it weighs 36.5g.
