Fine Ornate Antique Norwegian Silver Spoon by Christiansen & Svendsen, Trondhjem, Norway c1910

Here on offer is a fine ornate antique Norwegian silver spoon by Christiansen & Svendsen, Trondhjem, of Norway, circa 1910.

On the handle it depicts ornate scroll work and the image of a crowned king, possibly Saint Olaf, who is the Patron of Norway.

Olaf Haraldsson was born in Ringerike, Norway, c. 995-1030, the son of Harald Grenske, a Viking lord.

On the reverse of the handle, it has been engraved with the initial “D” and on the thinner section, it is stamped C&S.830S

The maker's mark "C&S" relates to Christiansen & Svendsen of Trondheim, Norway.

This firm operated a workshop and produced various silver items, including spoons, at the beginning of the 20th century.

The spoon is in excellent condition and being stamped with 830S, means this is the type of silver often seen in silver jewellery from Scandinavian countries. It is genuine silver with a reasonably high purity level. The 830 number means that the jewellery is 83% silver and 17% alloy.

It is a rare spoon and would make a great addition to any silver spoon collection.

It measures 6” (15.3cm) long and the bowl is 1.3” (3.3cm) wide.

It weighs 22g.
