Here on offer is an original and early pattern Airborne Walking Tour bronze Police Sports Association, participants souvenir medal.
The annual Airborne Walking Tour was started in 1947 to honour those who fought for the liberation of our country in the September 1944.
It is a tribute to the 1,700 and more British and Polish parachutist soldiers who died and were buried in the Battle of Arnhem at the Airborne Cemetery in Oosterbeek, Netherlands.
The obverse displays an embossed of Pegasus and the text:
Airborne Wandeltochten (English: Airborne Marches).
On the reverse is the text:
POLITE SPORT VERENIGING
RENKUM
It is suspended from a silk maroon ribbon. And has a fixing pin fitted at the top.
The medal in excellent condition with some age patina to the bronze
It measures 1” (2.6cm) diameter and weighs 9.2g.
