Antique Pruning Knife with Jigged Bone or Composite Stag Antler Grip Scales
Here on offer is an antique pruning knife with jigged bone or composite stag antler grip scales.
There are no makers marks on this knife, but from its style of construction I believe it is an antique Sheffield made piece.
The grip has two jigged imitation stag antler scales, made from a fine bone or composite material. They are both in excellent condition, with a couple of small cracks near the grip pins. They both fit snuggly against the brass bolster.
The traditional curved steel blade, shows signs of dark light pitting to both sides and it still retains a smooth cutting edge.
It still opens and closes very well with no “wobble” and locks securely in place.
This knife has been clearly been used but has also been cared for over its many years of use.
The blade measures 3” (7.6cm) long with a 2.75”” (7cm) cutting edge.
The knife is 7.25” (18.4cm) long when open and weighs 122g.
