Fine Antique German Paul Kohl FISHER SUPERB Cutthroat Razor with Original Case c1925

Here on offer is a fine antique German Paul Kohl FISHER SUPERB cutthroat razor with original case, circa 1925.

The Paul Kohl, Fischerwerk, Stahlwarenfabrik, company began in 1908, though some sources claim back to 1816. Paul Kohl officially registered with the German chamber of commerce on December 3, 1920. Kohl manufactured and sold: razors, razor blades and scissors of the finest quality. In 1922, Kohl registered their trademark of a stickman holding a large fish in his right hand.

The top-quality steel straight blade is etched on one side in gold lettering:

FISHER SUPERB

Then set in the center is the trademark of the stickman holding a large fish in his right hand.

All the gold etching is framed with an ornate patterned boarder

Then on the front of the long ricasso section of the blade, it is stamped with the number 26, the stickman trademark and the words:

THE “FISHER”
FOR QUALITY

On the other side it is stamped in an oval with:

MADE IN
GERMANY

The blade is in excellent condition, retaining a sharp cutting edge and a bright polished finish. There are just a couple of slight dark staining marks, that could be polished out. With some re-honing, this razor could easily be used again today.

The grip looks to be made from Ivorine or other imitation ivory/bone and is in excellent/mint condition.

On the front it is impressed in silver with the stickman trademark.

It comes with its original card case with a black finish and gold lettering on the front that reads:

Fisher razor
Fully warranted

With the trademark image at both ends.

The case is in excellent condition, which is rare to find after 100 years of storage.

This is a really top-quality razor and I can’t find another example like this FISHER SUPERB, which I believe was the finest quality version they made.

The 5.75” (14.6cm) long straight razor has a 2.75” (7cm) cutting edge. Fully open the razor measures 9.5” (24.2cm) long with a 5.6” (14.3cm) long grip.

With the case it weighs 70g.
