Here on offer is a scarce original WW2 Mechanised Transport Training Corps MTTC women's cap badge.
A scarce original early Second World War 1939 to 1940 period 'Mechanised Transport Training Corps hat badge' in the form of a die-cast bronzed motor car wheel and tyre, the voided centre bearing crossed spanners each with a raised letter 'MTTC' with motto scroll below 'Pro Patria'.
On the reverse it still has its original vintage metal brooch pin āCā clasp.
The 'Mechanised Transport Training Corps' MTTC was formed in Feb 1939 as a women's voluntary civilian organisation, that trained drivers for government and military needs. It was recognised by the Ministry of War Transport in 1940 and renamed the 'Mechanised Transport Corps' MTC, and its members were conscripted and received pay.
This fine example is in excellent condition and now has an aged patina to the finish.
The brooch measures 1.1ā (2.8cm) diameter and weighs 8g.
