Small Vintage German Stag Handled Jagdnicker/Skinning Knife with Leather Sheath by J H PRIMA Solingen
Here on offer is a very small vintage German stag handled Jagdnicker/skinning knife with nickel metal fittings, made by J H PRIMA, Solingen.
The grip is made from a fine section of smooth stag antler, with a grooved nickel metal ferrel and pommel.
The high quality blade is quite thick at the spine, and is actually very substantial. It has a single c” cutting edge, with a bevelled false edge at the top.
There is some light sharpening to the cutting edge, which is what one would expect with a skinning knife. It also shows some dark age staining to the finish.
The front of the blade is stamped with the maker’s details, being the letters "J H", with a fish separating the letters. Beneath this marking is the word "PRIMA".
The knife retains its leather sheath made from a fine brown grain leather that is sewn up the rear. It has nickel upper and lower fittings.
This is a top quality, very fine, small skinning knife, probably produced in the 1930’s.
The blade measures 2.4” (6cm) long with a 2.2” (5.5cm) cutting edge and the knife is 5.2” (13cm) in total length.
It weighs 26g.
