British Military Folding Two-Piece Stainless Steel Clasp or Jack Knife Dated 1955 by C. Myers & Son Ltd Sheffield – Trade Mark MYSON

Here on offer is a vintage British military folding, two-piece stainless steel clasp or jack knife, dated 1955 and made by C. Myers & Son Ltd of Sheffield, who had a trade mark of MYSON.

It has a main blade, a combination can & bottle opener, along with a screwdriver tip and at the other end a lanyard loop.

On the front grip plate it is stamped with:

It is also stamped with 446 and a broad arrow

The reference CC.1286 is an old Vocabulary of Army Ordnance Stores (VAOS) part number for a specific type of British military clasp knife, often called a jack knife or pocket knife. "CC" stands for Clothing Code, and the number "1286" identifies it as a two-piece knife with a blade and a can opener.

The blade and tool fold into the grip, making it compact and easy to carry. I have lightly oiled (with gun oil) the blade/tool joints to make them easy to open and they both have a strong action.

The knife is in great condition with just light usage marks and signs of sharpening to the blade.

The blade cutting edge measures 2.5” (6.2cm) long and the knife when closed is 3.75” (9.5cm) long, excluding the lanyard ring.

It weighs 93g.
