Fine Quality Vintage Double-Bladed Mother of Pearl Penknife made in Sheffield c1930

Here on offer is a top quality vintage double-bladed mother of pearl penknife made in Sheffield, England, circa 1930 or possibly earlier.

The penknife has two beautiful smooth mother of pearl grip scales, that are in excellent undamaged condition.

Both scales are held in place against the brass liners, by three stainless steel pins.

The knife has a beautiful polished stainless steel “backbone” which has been hand chiselled with a symmetrical grooved pattern. Such work was only undertaken on the finest quality knives of that period.

It has two mint condition polished stainless steel blades, that open and close perfectly, one at each end of the knife.

Both blades have an unusual flat edge section on the back of their top edges.
There are no maker’s details on the blades or knife but both of the blades are stamped on the ricasso with:

STAINLESS
SHEFFIELD
ENGLAND

The knife is in mint condition and looks to have never been used.

The longer blade measures 1.75” (4.4cm) and the shorter blade 1.5” (3.8cm). Closed the knife measures 3.1” (7.9cm) long.

It weighs 24g.
