Near Mint Vintage – OLD CUTLER U.S.A. - Double Bladed Pocket Knife by Barlow
Here on offer is a near mint vintage Barlow “OLD CUTLER U.S.A.”, double bladed pocket knife.
This small Barlow pocket knife has two stainless steel blades; the larger clip point blade is 2.25” long and is stamped on the ricasso with:
OLD CUTLER
U.S.A.
The other rounded blade is 1.5” long and is stamped on the ricasso with:
PATENT
3,317,996
Both blades look to have never been used and retain their bright polished finish and retain a very tight fit.
The two grip scales are made from a brown Delrin plastic and have been cut to expose the lighter colour underneath and imitate stag horn. The hand grip area has been machine cut, producing a light grooved pattern that provides good grip, even in the wet.
The scales are held securely in place by three domed brass rivets.
Delrin, also known as acetal or polyoxymethylene (POM), is a high-performance engineering thermoplastic known for its exceptional mechanical properties and versatility. It's a strong, stiff, and wear-resistant material that's often used as a metal replacement in various industrial applications.
The knife has brass liners and large polished brass bolsters, that are both stamped with the maker’s name: “Barlow”.
This near mint example will make a great addition to any vintage knife collection.
The larger blade measures 2.25” (5.7cm) and the smaller bald measures 1.5” (3.8cm). When closed the knife measures 3.4” (8.6cm) long.
It weighs 82g.
