Fine RAC “Type 6” Car Badge with Bar Mount Clamp Fitting - 1932 to 1937

Here on offer is an impressive RAC “Type 6” car badge with its original bar mount clamp fitting, that dates to 1932 thru 1937.

This version of the RAC car badge was produced between 1932 and 1937 and became the standard size badge, with the smaller versions being discontinued.

It was made from a chrome plated metal alloy, “MAZAC” that now shows some light pitting and plating loss.

On the top there is a royal crown and at the base is a winged Hermes with branches of laurel leaves.

Stamped underneath the Hermes figure is the owner’s membership number:
F28238

There are also raised words around the inner edge that read:

THE ROYAL AUTOMOBILE CLUB ASSOCIATION

In the centre it is fitted with a round coloured enamel Union Jack flag that is in perfect condition.

On the back it depicts the spread wings of Hermes and at the top the words

The badge comes fitted with a chrome plated bar mounting clamp that would be used to attached it to a bar at the front of the car, as shown in my last photo.

This car badge is a great example of this vintage “Type 6” badge and makes a great addition for anybody interested in early motoring memorabilia.

The badge without the clamp measures 3.85” (9.6cm) tall and is 3” (7.8cm) wide.

It weighs 330g.
