British LAW (Light Anti-Tank Weapon) 66mm Heat L1A2B1 Rocket Launcher dated 1976

Here on offer is a British LAW (Light Anti-Tank Weapon) 66mm Heat L1A2B1 Rocket Launcher dated to 1976.

This deactivated example was apparently used for training purposes and shows signs of being well used, showing signs of paint loss and some damage to the front site and rubber safety switch cover. It is now also missing its muzzle cover, end cap, and carry strap.

It still opens and closes as it should, bearing in mind the fold down the aiming sites when you close it!

This is a pre Falklands War British LAW (Light Anti-Tank Weapon) 66mm L1A3B1 rocket launcher, dating to 1976.


The L1A3B1 was used by the British army and Special Forces in many conflicts, including the troubles in Northern Ireland and the Falklands War.

It is designed as a portable, single-use, disposable, unguided rocket launcher, primarily designed for targeting armoured vehicles, though it also proved effective against bunkers, fixed positions, and buildings.

It was replaced by the LAW80 in the 1980s.

Printed in white paint on the barrel are some operation diagrams and in yellow paint there are the following markings:

This launcher makes a great display and discussion piece for a study or “man cave”.

It measures 25” (63.5cm) when closed and 34” (86.5cm) when open, being 66mm calibre and weighing 1.3Kg.
