WW1 Royal Engineers 1915 Hallmarked Silver & Gold SMLE Rifle Sweetheart Brooch with Original Case

Here on offer is a top quality WW1 Royal Engineers, 1915 hallmarked silver & gold SMLE rifle sweetheart brooch, with its original case.

On the front it depicts a heavily gold plated miniature Royal Engineers badge, with a George V cypher. This has been mounted on a detailed silver miniature WW1 period S.M.L.E style rifle, complete with its fixed bayonet and sling.

On the reverse are a clear set of English silver hallmarks, that show an anchor for the assay office of Birmingham, the Lion Passant for English silver and the date letter “q” for the year 1915.

There is also the makers mark, that is hard to make out but appears to read as. "A.Bros" that relates to the English silversmiths, Ahronsberg Brothers, of Albion Street, Birmingham.

It also still has its original long retaining pin and “C” clasp.

It comes with what appears to be its original silk lined brown leather effect case, with some gilt detailing to the lid.

The brooch itself is in excellent condition and are hard to find with their original jeweler’s case.

The brooch measures 2.1” (5.4cm) wide and weighs 4.1g.
