Fine Hallmarked Silver 20cm Square Shaped Ruler fitted with Red and Blue Ballpoint Pens by William Manton 1982

Here on offer is an English hallmarked silver 20cm long square shaped ruler, by William Manton and dating to 1982.

It comes with two small ballpoint pens, one red and one blue, that slot into each end of the ruler, only leaving their round coloured tops visible.

The ruler is marked with centimetre and millimetre divisions, from 1 to 20 on one side of the square section.

The other three sides are blank apart from one is stamped with a clear set of English silver hallmarks, the Lion Passant for English silver, an Anchor for the assay office of Birmingham and the date letter “H” for the year 1982.

It also shows the makers mark, that reads as “W M”, which I believe stands for the English silversmith, William Manton, of Caroline Street, Birmingham who were also known as ‘Birmingham Gold & Silversmiths Ltd’.

The ruler is in excellent condition but you will need to find some replacement ink refills for the pens as these seem to have tried up.

End to end the ruler measures 8.3” (21.3cm) long and it weighs 23g.
