Vintage Novelty Rocket Car SAROME Blue-Bird Petrol Lighter c1960

Here on offer is a vintage novelty streamlined rocket car, “SAROME” Blue-Bird petrol lighter, made in Japan, circa 1960.

This example has a two tone paint finish, with a cream upper section and a red lower section.
Most of the cream paint has now been worn off and the red painted section shows areas of paint loss.

It seems to have been made from chrome plated metal, which is still in great condition, including the chrome wheels.

There are two screws in the base, one to access the flint and flit spring and the other larger screw to allow access to it.

The sprung lever at the top still works and lifts the wick cover and rotates the flint wheel to create a spark, when a flint is fitted.

However, to meet with shipping regulations there is NO lighter fuel (petrol) or flint in the lighter.

It makes a great conversation piece and an impressive addition to any lighter collection.

It measures 1.2” (3cm) high by 3” (7.7cm) wide and weighs 38g.
