Vintage South Crofty Tin Mine Cornwall - Clipper Sailing Vessel Tin Brooch with Case c1980

Here on offer is a vintage South Crofty Tin Mine, Cornwall, Clipper sailing vessel tin brooch with original case, circa 1980.

The genuine Cornish tin brooch depicts the detailed image of a three masted Clipper ship in full sail.

On the back it has the maker’s details:

SOUTH CROFTY TIN
CORNWALL

It retains its original pin and locking “C” clasp and is in excellent condition and doesn’t look to have ever been worn.

The brooch comes with its original green leatherette case, with the maker’s details printed inside the lid.

This specific vintage brooch is no longer produced so it has become a valued collectable in its own right.

South Crofty Mine, is a metalliferous tin and copper mine located in the village of Pool, Cornwall, England. An ancient mine, it has seen production for over 400 years, and extends almost two and a half miles across and 3,000 feet down and has mined over 40 lodes, but closed in 1998. Cornish Metals now own it and are hoping to get South Crofty back into production as early as 2026.

This brooch measures 1.9” (4.6cm) wide, 1.2” (3cm) high and weighs 15g and including the case, 91g.
