Vintage Hand Carved Stag Antler and Inset Gilt Fox Head Brooch c1930

Here on offer is an unusual vintage hand carved stag antler and inset gilt metal fox head brooch, probably dating to the 1930’s.

A small section of stag antler has been worked to create a hollow dish section in the centre that has been inset with a finely detailed gilt metal fox head, that has been encased in a clear (with a gilt backing) early plastic, probably Lucite?

I think the fox head is gilt metal, but it might be made of gold, but as its encased I cant get to test it, so I am listing it as "gilt metal".

On the reverse it retains its original pin and locking “C” clasp, that has unusually been screwed in place, showing a sign of quality.

A fine and unique brooch that is in excellent condition.

The brooch measures 1.3” (3.3cm) by 1.1” (2.8cm) and weighs 7.5g.
