Unusual Vintage “Glitzy” German Dagger – Blade marked HIRSCHKRONE Solingen Germany

Here on offer is an unusual and very “glitzy”, vintage German dagger.

I do actually have another dagger that is almost exactly the same, apart from it has just two rows of rhinestones around the top of the sheath, not three as on this example. Why they were made, I have no idea and I can’t find any reference to them, so if anybody has any information relating to them, please let me know.

The blade is etched with the “stag deer antlers and FPS” trade mark of HIRSCHKRONE, Solingen Germany.

After some research, it appears that at one stage, Weber-Messer owned the brand. They in turn seemed to be owned by the company, Rudolf Weber jr. who in turn were taken over by Jürgen Schanz, who still produce knives/daggers today.

I must stress that this dagger is clearly a display piece, given the fragility of the rhinestones attached to the grip and the top of the sheath.

The pommel and crossguard seem to be made from polished aluminium.

The grip is the really glitzy element of this dagger and has been set with what look to be rhinestones that are in turn set into a black plastic strip that has been wound around the grip and stuck/strapped in place.

I would say that a few of the stones have come away in the past and been stuck back into place, but all seem to be secure at the moment.

It has an impressive XX” pointed double edged steel dagger blade, that retains a bright finish. There is just a tiny dark spot on the raised centre line on one side of the blade.

One side is etched with the “stag antlers and FPS” trade mark of HIRSCHKRONE, Solingen Germany.

The black leather scabbard has been set with three rows of rhinestones at the top and has a ridged nickel metal tip fitted at the tip.

This dagger is in excellent condition and actually makes a great display piece with some real BLING that your wife or partner may just allow you to display!

The blade is 6” (15.2cm) long and the whole dagger measures 10.25” (26cm).

It weighs 145g.
