Antique Victorian Horn BOLLINGER Champagne Bottle Cigar or Cheroot Cutter c1883

Here on offer is a novel Victorian cigar/cheroot cutter in the form of a bottle of BOLLINGER Champagne.

The body of the bottle is made of carved horn with silver plated metal mounts and mechanism. It also has a ring attached to the top so that it can be attached to a pocket watch chain.

On this fine example the metal label plate on the front, depicts the name of the famous champagne producer, BOLLINGER.

To operate it, you gently twist the top of bottle to allow the metal label with cutter below to spring out.

You can then use the “V” blade cutter by pressing the label down to cut the tip of your cigar.

After use, you simply press the label down and turn the top to lock it back in place.

I do have another example of this type of cutter, item 50757, that is stamped around the neck of the bottle with a Victorian Design Lozenge that that dates it to 1883.

Therefore, I am dating this example to around the same period of time, circa 1883.

It is in excellent working condition, no damage and just some minor loss of plating on the strip of metal attached to the label.

It measures 2.1” (5.4cm) high (excluding the ring) and weighs 10g.
