WW1 Large Barrel Match Holder made from the Teak of H.M.S. SIRDAR
Here on offer is a genuine piece of teak wood from H.M.S. SIRDAR that has been made into a ribbed barrel shaped large match holder.
It has a quality polished nickel plaque pinned to the front, which reads:
FROM THE TEAK
OF
H.M.S. SIRDAR
H.M.S. SIRDAR was an “S” Class Destroyer, with a pennant G.27. She was laid down 30/8/1917 and launched by Fairfield Govan, Yard No 572, on 6/7/1918. After doing her length of service after WW1, she was sold for scrapping on 04/05/1934.
The barrel is in excellent condition no cracks or splits.
It measures 7.5cm (3”) diameter at its widest point by 8cm (3.2”) high and weighs 100g.
