Heavily Chrome Plated WW1 Trench Art 77mm Brass Artillery Shell Case made into a Vase
Here on offer is an impressive piece of WW1 trench art, that is a heavily chrome plated WW1 trench art 77mm brass artillery shell case, that has been made into a striking vase.
This 77mm shell case has had the base removed with all the ordinance marks, so I can’t tell if it is German or British in origin?
However, the main cylindrical section has been expertly reworked into an impressively shaped vase.
The top rim has a fluted edge and the base has been formed by cutting out five prongs and curving them to form a stand.
The sides have two curled thin bars applied and inside it has been sealed with a brass disc to form a watertight seal, ensuring it can act as a vase.
The whole vase has been heavily chrome plated and now has a very bright and gleaming finish, which is very unusual to find on such WW1 pieces, and something your partner might appreciate and allow to be displayed in the home!
The vase measures 7.5” (19cm) tall, by 6” (15.3cm) diameter at the base and 4” (10.2cm) at the top.
It weighs a heavy 920kg.
