WW1 – The Edmonton Green Committee (London) – Wounded Soldiers’ Fund - Metal and Celluloid Matchbox Cover

Here on offer is an early WW1 metal and celluloid matchbox cover, from The Edmonton Green Committee (London), in aid of the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund, 1914 – 1915.

The front depicts the framed words:

From
The Edmonton Green Committee
In aid of the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund

Then it also lists the names of the leading members, president, etc…


Along the spine it reads:

Souvenir of the
GREAT WAR 1914 – 1915

Then on the back are the grouped flaps of the WW1 allied countries, such as France, Japan etc

The whole matchbox cover is coated in a clear celluloid to protect the images. There is no damage to the celluloid as such, just some foxing/staining near the edges.

The matchbox cover measures 2.4” (6cm) high by 1.6” (4cm) wide and is 0.9” (2.3cm) deep.

It weighs 22g.
