WW2 Trench Art “20mm Cartridge” Brass and Steel Petrol Table Lighter
Here on offer is an impressive WW2 trench art brass and steel petrol table lighter.
The top cone section is from the top of a 20mm cartridge and the lower section has been made up from a large calibre artillery cartridge igniter, that I can’t identify?
Many countries have used 20mm anti-aircraft guns during WW2, on board ships, on land and they were also popular on aircraft such as the Spitfire Mk. IX.
It is in working order but is being sold without a flint or any fuel to comply with shipping regulations.
Underneath the base there is a very large brass screw that when removed, allows you access to the wick cotton for refuelling.
On the top, the flint wheel mechanism fits tightly, can be pull out to allow the flint to be replaced.
The top 20mm section just sits on the top covering the wick and flint wheel.
This example is in excellent condition and just makes a striking WW2 table or desk lighter, or just an impressive artillery ornament in its own right.
It measures 5.6” (14.3cm) tall and 2.25” (5.8cm) diameter at the base.
It weighs a heavy 408g.
