Impressive WW2 Period British “Artillery Shell” Shaped Steel Petrol Table Lighter with turned Bakelite Base
Here on offer is an impressive and very heavy WW2 period British “Artillery Shell” shaped polished steel petrol table lighter, with a turned and stepped brown Bakelite base.
The top cone section has a fine thread that unscrews to reveal flint wheel with two knurled wheels and the wick.
It is in working order but is being sold without a flint or any fuel to comply with shipping regulations.
The beautifully step turned and machined main body fits securely to a circular stepped Bakelite base.
Underneath the base there is a very large brass bolt that when removed, allows you access to the flint barrel/spring and wick cotton for refuelling.
This example is in excellent undamaged condition and just makes a striking WW2 table or desk lighter, or just an artillery ornament in its own right.
It measures 6.9” (17.5cm) tall and 3.9” (9.9cm) diameter at the base.
It weighs a very heavy 1.44Kg.
