P&O Steam Navigation Company – 150th Anniversary 1837 to 1987 Commemorative Bronze Medallion Paperweight
Here on offer is a P&O Steam Navigation Company, 150th Anniversary 1837 to 1987 Commemorative Bronze Medallion Paperweight.
This impressive commemorative P&O bronze medallion has been set in clear resin with a flat base to allow it to be used as a paperweight.
On one side it displays the 'William Fawcett' paddle-steamer with sails set, P & O flag (enamelled) below, with the legend: 'The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company.' Exergue: '1837-1987 150 YEARS'.
On the other side it has the Arms of the P & O Company with the legend: 'The William Fawcett depicted on this commemorative medallion is recognised as the first ship to carry the P & O flag.'
It is in excellent condition with just a couple of light scratches.
It makes a great display piece of maritime history.
It measures 4.5” (11.5cm) wide by 4.4” (11cm) high and 1.5” (3.8cm) deep.
It weighs a heavy 595g.
