Victorian Hallmarked Silver Isle of Man Bar Brooch –Celtic Three Legs of Mann and Thistle Flowers - Chester 1897
Here on offer is a Victorian hallmarked silver Isle of Man bar brooch that has finely detailed cut-out images of the Celtic Three Legs of Mann and thistle flowers.
The reverse still has its original retaining pin and “C” clasp, along with a clear set of English silver hallmarks.
The hallmarks are a sword between three wheatsheaves for the assay office of Chester, the Lion Passant for English silver and the date letter “O” for the year 1897.
There is also the makers mark “A.J.C”, which possibly relates to the English Silversmith, Alfred James Cheshire, of 52 Tenby Street North, Birmingham.
The brooch is in great condition but the bar on the reverse does have a few shallow dings.
It measures 1.9” (4.8cm) wide and weighs 3g.
