Interesting and Rare French WW1 Commemorative Spelter Trinket Dish
Here on offer is an interesting and rare example of a French WW1 commemorative trinket dish that seems to have been made from spelter or possibly pewter?
It depicts a scene of French troops marching through the Arc de Triomphe, with a winged guardian angel flying above them. There is also a group of four soldiers on the left-hand side, which depict different soldiers through the ages.
The French word DEPOSE also shown in raised letters at the bottom edge.
The dish now has a wonderful age patina and retains a lot of the fine detailing. The only damage I can see are two tiny sections of the very edge of the dish missing, as shown in my photos.
It measures 4.9” (12.5cm) wide by 3.25” (8.3cm) high.
It weighs 194g.
