Antique Irish “The 6th Inniskilling Dragoons” Blackthorn Shillelagh

Here on offer is an original antique Irish “The 6th Inniskilling Dragoons” blackthorn shillelagh.

This shillelagh is made from a piece of antique blackthorn and has a large natural rounded top and a strong shaft, fitted with a string loop/lanyard.

The wood now has age related dents and scratches but has a very dark patina to the wood, which makes me think it is an old Victorian period piece?

The top face has been fitted with an Irish “The 6th Inniskilling Dragoons” cap badge.

The cap badge is an unusual early variant pattern being cast in white metal, instead of the usual bi-metal.

The badge depicts the castle of Inniskilling with St. George's flag above a scroll inscribed "INNISKILLING".

It measures 17.25” (44cm) long and weighs a heavy 420g.
