Vintage Chrome Plated Mc Murdo Starlite Pocket Lighter with Engine Turned Finish c1946
Here on offer is a fine and now rare example of a chrome plated Mc Murdo Starlite Pocket Lighter with engine turned finish c1946.
This type of pocket lighter was manufactured in Great Britain/England and was patented with a British Utility Patent in 1946 by Harry Lakey & Celestion Ltd, 1946/1947.
This Art deco style lighter has an interesting ignition system, with a horizontal friction wheel roller, lifting the snuffer and igniting the wick.
The hexagonal shaped body of the lighter has a beautiful chrome plated engine turned finish to all sides.
The base has the two screws, one to access the flint and one to add fuel.
It is also stamped with:
Mc MURDO
PAT. No. 590958
MADE IN ENG.
There is no fuel (petrol) in the lighter, to meet shipping regulations. The flint spring is still in place, it just has the flint removed to also comply with shipping regulations.
The lighter is in near mint condition and will make an impressive addition to any lighter collection.
It measures 1.5” (3.8cm) wide, 2.2” (5.5cm) high and 0.6” (1.5cm) thick.
It weighs 62g.
