Genuine WW2 Luftwaffe Fighting Knife Stamped with Official Stick Eagle “5” Waffenamt Stamp on the Blade and on the Scabbard

Here on offer is a fine example of a genuine WW2 Luftwaffe fighting knife stamped with official Stick Eagle “5” Waffenamt stamp on the blade and very unusually at the tip of the scabbard.

The slightly curved light wood grip scales are in excellent condition with just some age-related shallow dents and light scratches to the finish. They are held securely in place by three steel dome topped pins.

The shaped polished steel crossguard shows a couple of age staining marks to the finish.

The beautiful 6.8” dagger shaped steel blade still retains a bright finish with some surface usage scratches. One side has a long 6” cutting blade and the other a smaller 3.25” top cutting edge.

Stamped on one side of the ricasso is the official Stick Eagle “5” Waffenamt stamp and on the other side the number 42 and another number, possibly a 5 or 6 that I really can’t make out.

I believe the “5” is the rarer type of mark found on these knives. They can be found with a ‘6’ or a ‘S’ or with nothing at all.

There is no makers mark on this knife and I have never seen one with a maker’s mark?

The original undamaged steel scabbard retains 99% of its black anodised finish, with just some missing from the edges of strong metal retaining clip on the back.

What is really unusual about this example is the fact it has the official Stick Eagle “5” Waffenamt mark, stamped at the tip of the scabbard.

The knife fits snuggly and securely against the scabbard spring in the scabbard.

Overall, this knife is in excellent to near mint condition and has the seldom seen “5” matching Waffenamt stamp on the scabbard.

The blade is 6.8” (17.3cm) long and the whole knife measures 11.4” (29cm).

It weighs 284g.
