WW2 1945 Belgium XXX Corps ALAMEIN CUXHAVEN Bronze Medal Commemorating Final Advance into Germany with Box
Here on offer is a WW2 1945 Belgium XXX Corps ALAMEIN CUXHAVEN bronze medal commemorating final advance into Germany with its original round box.
On the obverse, it depicts the rampant boar insignia of the XXX Corps, with the Headquarters 1st Army Group (later Headquarters British Army of the Rhine) insignia above, the 1st Canadian Armoured Brigade insignia to the left of the boar and the British Army of the Rhine insignia to the right.
Around the inner edge it is inscribed "XXX CORPS" and "ALAMEIN CUXHAVEN".
On the reverse it is inscribed with:
"1944-1945 NORMANDY / MOUNT PINCON / CROSSING OF THE SEINE / BRUSSELS AND ANTWERP / THE ADVANCE TO ARNHEM / THE ARDENNES / THE REICHSWALD / CROSSING OF THE RHINE / FINAL ADVANCE INTO GERMANY", all set within an open-ended wreath of olive leaves.
The medal is in excellent condition, no edge marks and has a nice age patina to the bronze finish.
It comes with its original round lidded box that has the Brussels retailer’s details on the top.
The medal measures 1.97” (50.1mm) diameter and weighs 40.5g.
