Rare WW1 Period - RFC - Royal Flying Corps - Metal and Celluloid Matchbox Cover
Here on offer is a rare original WW1 period metal and celluloid matchbox cover.
The front depicts the crest badge of the “Royal Flying Corps”, the reverse, a “Pilots Wings RFC badge” and along the spine in red lettering, "RFC" with "Copyright" and "British Made".
The whole matchbox cover is coated in a clear celluloid to protect the images. There is no damage to the celluloid as such, just some foxing/staining near the edges.
It comes with an empty box of “BRYMAY”, Bryant & May’s special safety matches.
The matchbox cover measures 2.4” (6cm) high by 1.6” (4cm) wide and is 0.9” (2.3cm) deep.
It weighs 27g.
