Large WW2 Period Scratch Built Wooden British Toy Tank
Here on offer is a WW2 period scratch built wooden British toy tank.
This great scale model has been well made from sections of what seems to be a sycamore type wood, which makes it very solid and quite heavy.
The generic style of the tank, with a raised turret and single long barrel and machine gun, means it’s probably based on a WW2 British Churchill tank.
It has a rotating turret and can be pushed along as it has wheels, cleverly made from old British cotton reels!
It has been painted in a grey paint and areas like rivets, tracts, etc have been highlighted in black paint.
The model is in overall excellent original condition with some wear loss of paint to the edges.
I can imagine a solider, possibly from the British tank corps making this for his son to enjoy and now makes an impressive historical desk piece.
The toy model tank (to the tip of the barrel) measures 10” (25.4cm) long, 4” (10.3cm) high and 4.2” (10.5cm) wide.
It weighs a heavy 645g.
