Personalised “Jeff” WW2 US Military Machete by LEGITIMUS with Leather Scabbard by ROBCO Ltd of Montreal both dated 1944

Here on offer is a fine example of a WW2 US Military Machete by LEGITIMUS with a thick brown leather scabbard by ROBCO Ltd of Montreal, Canada, both dated 1944.

What is unusual about this example is it has been personalised with the owner’s name “Jeff”, painted on the front of the scabbard.

The two rounded black Bakelite grip slabs are in excellent condition and fitted securely to the blade tang by four large steel pins. There is a hole at the top so a lanyard or rope strap can be fitted.

The 14.75” heavy steel blade is also in excellent condition and still retains a sharp cutting edge.

It now has a polished finish with over light scratch marks and some small patches of dark oxitisation.

On one side it is stamped with the maker’s logo, being an arm holding a club or axe, set in the top of a crown.

The dark brown thick leather scabbard is in great condition with all the original stitching and rivets in place. It also still has the original grip retaining strap still in place and is in worn condition, but still works.

On the front of the large belt loop, below the strap, it is stamped with the makers details:
