Very Rare WWI Carved Bone Kewpie or Pixie "FUMSUP" Doll Charm c1914

Here on offer is an original and very rare WW1 period FUMSUP style, Kewpie or Pixie doll charm that has been beautifully hand carved from bone.

The natural martial has a very fine graining to the finish and has a small gold or thickly gold-plated brass loop and ring at the top.

This is the best example I have had the pleasure of owning and it is in excellent condition even retaining the details of fingers on the hands and the eyes, nose and mouth on the face.

FUMSUP was a popular name for good luck charms dating to the 19th and 20th century and it's believed to be a derivative of the saying "thumbs up" and was often given to WW1 soldiers as a “Good Luck” token that could be carried with them into battle.

The FUMSUP charm measures 1.25” (3.2cm) long including the suspension ring and 0.6” (1.6cm) wide across the arms.
