Original Small WW2 “Trench Art” RAF Spitfire Sweetheart Brooch
Here on offer is a superb example of an original WW2 RAF “Trench Art” sweetheart brooch which is in the form of a metal RAF Spitfire fighter aircraft that still retains some aged patina to what looks like a silver or nickel alloy?
It is thought that these brooches where true “WW2 Trench Art” possibly made from coins by German POW’s retained in the UK and sold to guards for chocolate and cigarettes.
This small example is in great condition and retains its original “safety pin” that is soldered in place, but now swivels and is fragile.
The brooch is 0.8” (2cm) long by 0.9” (2.2cm) wide and weighs 2g.
