WW1 Period Nickel Plated Metal Matchbox Cover with Brass and Enamel Anchor for the ROYAL NAVY
Here on offer is a WW1 period nickel plated metal matchbox cover with brass and enamel anchor insignia for the ROYAL NAVY.
All three sides of the metal cover appear to be nickel or chrome plated. The edge is plain but both flat sides have an ornate engine turned pattern
On the front it has an impressive raised brass and enamel badge depicting the anchor insignia of the ROYAL NAVY, with a Kings crown.
There is also a small offset rectangular blank cartouche on the front, that could be engraved with the owner’s initials.
The matchbox cover is in excellent condition with just some tiny pitting to the finish of the plating. The insignia retains all its red and blue enamel.
It comes with an empty box of FIRE QUEEN safety matches, with details printed on the front. It does have some holes and damage to the thin wood.

It weighs 34g.
