WW2 “V” For Victory - RAF - Army - RN – WRNS – ATS – WAAF - Metal and Celluloid Matchbox Cover
Both sides depict photographic images of members of the British Armed Services including the RAF, Army, Royal Navy, on one side and the ATS, WRNS and WAAF on the other.
On the edge it has “V . . . –“, which is the morse code for V for victory.
Along with the words:
Our Deepest Gratitude
and admiration to them all.
The whole open matchbox cover is coated in a clear celluloid to protect the images. There are some cracks to the celluloid on the edge along with some staining.
It comes with an empty box of safety matches, with the photo image of No 15 of Series 1 of The Courage Pubs, being “The Princess” at Swindon.
The matchbox cover measures 2.25” (5.7cm) high by 1.4” (3.9cm) wide and is 0.9” (2.3cm) deep.
It weighs 26g.
